The Estate
Produced from an exceptional terroir, Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is the Second Wine of the famous 1er Grand Cru Classé Château Mouton Rothschild. Made from a selection of the youngest vines, it is harvested, vinified and bottled with the same scrupulous attention to detail: harvested in in small, open baskets, fermented in the Mouton oak vats, matured in oak barrels in the traditional way. All the conditions are met for the wine to express the elegance and richness of a great Pauillac.

The 2016 Le Petit Mouton is a blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc. It has a deep garnet-purple color and gives up an intensely plummy nose with cigar box and fallen leaves scents leading to aroma layers of kirsch, red and black currants and tilled soil. Medium-bodied with a racy line of freshness cutting through the muscular fruit and a good, firm frame of grainy tannins to support, it finishes on a lingering menthol note.
